Anyone watch Encore Westerns?

For all of you old timers, "Sheyenne" is on at 4:30 now. I have been recording it and watching it in the evenings. It has not re-run on TV for many years. Clint Walker was the man.

"Have Gun Will Travel" follows it.

Man I miss those old westerns.

Clint Walker is still the man at 82 years old! Here's an interesting excerpt from his bio on wikipedia:

Those were good westerns. Others like Wanted Dead or Alive and Tombstone Territory were consistently good. Hopefully those will be shown someday. Encore Western is a great channel indeed.

...always enjoyed Clint Walker, seemed like the kind of good ol' boy to hang with_hitting the honkey tonks & throwing horseshoes.

All this time I thought he was Texan. Turns out his time in Texas was spent working in Brownwood, Texas.

I sometimes watch "Maverick" with James Garner, Jack Kelly and Roger Moore.

Man I miss those old westerns.

We just got that expanded package of channels through Grande, and we had the Encore channels for a week. I want to check into it , and find out how much that package costs.

My favorites were Have Gun/Will Travel, Cheyenne, Laredo, and Maverick. I love old westerns. Grew up on them in Dallas as a kid, Channel 39 had 'em all day Saturday afternoons.

For years KXTX was known for its "Western weekends," broadcasting a lineup of classic westerns in the afternoons and early evenings on Saturdays and Sundays. Shows included in the lineup through the years included The Lone Ranger, The Rifleman, Bonanza, Rawhide, Alias Smith and Jones, The Virginian, Little House on the Prairie, Gunsmoke, The Big Valley, and Have Gun, Will Travel.
I've suddenly come down with a severe case of good old days syndrome.

Some other good ones were Big Valley (great line of actors), Cimmarron Strip, and High Chaparral. Great stuff.

There are several of us around here that wax nostalgic from time-to-time.

Some of the things I miss:

- Westerns on TV all the time;

- the old north end of Memorial Stadium;

- .99 hamburgers & frosted-mug root beer at Bill Smith's home of the better burger, on Valwood Lane in Farmers Branch (it's been gone about 25 years now);

- Drinking Nugrape (I don't think you can get it anymore);

- singing "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Leaning on the Everlasting Arms" in church (most of the songs now are "praise" songs, or happy-clappy);

- going to the old Rainbow Pharmacy in downtown Carrollton for a malt, and then a movie at the old Plaza Theater.

<Sigh>...longhorn patrick tells me I was born about 50 years too late...he is probably right.

Is it ok to add "hair" to the list of thing missed?
